Our History

Krempp Lumber dates back to 1864 when 28-year-old, Andrew Krempp Sr. immigrated from Germany to the United States. In 1877, Andrew settled into the road construction and general supply business in Jasper, Indiana. In the early 1900’s, Andrew Sr.’s son, Andrew B. Krempp and his business partner, operated as Traylor and Krempp. In 1918, Andrew B. acquired his partners equity in the company and his son Edwin Krempp, later joined the family business. The Krempp Lumber Company was then officially incorporated in 1928.

Through the mid 1900’s, Edwin’s two sons, Stanley & Kenneth Krempp, joined the business as 4th generation owners. Under their direction, the business saw much diversification. Stan Krempp saw opportunity in kitchen cabinets and established the Aristokraft Cabinets, which was later sold and is now Masterbrand Cabinets. Masterbrand is one of the top cabinet manufacturers in North America and is still Headquartered in Jasper, IN. Ken Krempp and his sons pursued commercial construction which was later spun off and operates as a separate entity. Krempp Construction is now operated by 5th & 6th Generation Krempps. Krempp Lumber continued in retail building supply through it all and is now owned and operated by 6th generation, Alex Krempp.
